Description
This is the Iron Cross of Germany.
In WWI Emperor Wilhelm II reauthorized this medal to be given to (mostly) soldiers of the German Empire or 2nd Reich for valour, bravery in battle and other military contributions in a battlefield environment.
The 2nd class Iron Cross would have to first be awarded in order to qualify for receiving this medal.
This one is of quite good condition though with obvious signs of it’s age, wear and tear one could expect from an over 100 year old medal. The base has been roughed up a little and the clip ring for the pin appears to be slightly misshapen. Despite this it has fared well through the century and would most certainly make for a fine collection piece.
