French Guard Du Corps Sword
1 in stock
This is the French Pattern Guard du Corps Cavalry Sword from the late Napoleonic era.
The sword is a heavy dragoon type. (Dragoon meaning bearing a point on the end of a long shaft used to out-range and fluster opponents, peppering them with a barrage of thrusting attacks)
It has a brass four bar hilt incorporating a foliage trophy with crowned Fleur de Lys. The black grip is wire bound and fully intact. The blade is lightly curved with a single edge. The engravings on the blade itself are clearly visible and frankly the entirety of the sword is in excellent condition.
With a mixture of the colours black, silver and gold this is a truly beautiful piece and would look absolutely fine on a wall or shelf, making a fantastic addition to someones displayed collection or just as a stand alone ornamental piece.
