Description
This here is a fine example of a 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger.
This dagger has remained in relatively good condition over the years.
It boats bright aluminum hilt fittings that are well detailed, as is the the embellished pommel, crossguard and quillon surfaces are finely detailed. Light ivory coloured solid celluloid grip is not without cracks or chips but is still in overall good condition with 11 rows of twisted silver bullion wrap on the grip. Though slightly worn & torn the knot is still intact & present.
I must make it clear that the scabbard does not appear to be the original for this dagger, although is still nice. The scabbard exhibits moderate surface wear, with but a few dents and a deep toning. The scabbard throat is retained by two side mounted screws. Although the handle is slight loose, this dagger is uncleaned and retains many of its original qualities.
The makers mark is present and shows us that this blade was made by F. W. Höller.
The blade itself does show signs of wear and minor grime but once again is in overall good condition.
Surely this blade would look splendid on display!
