Description
This elegant French sword bayonet was used to accompany the Chassepot rifle and is in an absolutely superb condition, with a few dents and rust patches here and there which is to be expected with an item of this age.
The date of manufacture ‘1871’ and original French inscription are still very clearly visible on the blade. After so many years the original matching scabbard is still with the bayonet, which is always a nice thing to see.
These bayonets have quite a nice curve to them and look great on display, this one in particular still retaining a fine shine to it’s blade.
